Hello! My name is Briana Williams, and I've worked in early childhood education for the last ten years. After completing my Bachelor of Arts in vocal performance in 2016, I moved to New York City in pursuit of performance opportunities. I quickly found that if I wanted to perform, I'd need to make some money along the way.
I began my teaching career in the Mommy-and-Me space, and went on to teach music in both nursey and private schools across Brooklyn and Manhattan. In between music classes and performances, I found myself drawn into the general education classroom. I was often assigned to sub on off days, and worked with students one-on-one both during and after school. With the encouragement of one of my school leaders, I decided to pursue my Masters of Science in teaching early childhood education while pregnant with my now two-year-old, Abeo.
My time at Fordham instilled my love for all things education, but created a special interest in literacy. I began to learn the mechanics of language that I was never taught in school. After graduating in 2025, I decided to move on from music into literacy education.
With some trial and error, long conversations, and sleepless nights, I have found the courage to mold two passions into one.
And thus, Literacy Sings was born!
You can find my little family and I sipping coffee, tea, and babyccinos at Chateau le Woof, or taking walks at Socrates Sculpture Park.
